A Question-Solving App Built with MountainTech+ for İspat College Students
The picture at the end of a study period in most schools is this: everyone has solved something, and nobody holds a record of who solved what or where they got stuck. The next day the teacher looks at the class on impression. The impression is usually right — but it is not measurable.
MountainTech+ built a study and question-solving platform for İspat College to close that gap. This article covers the problem it solves, how it works on the student and the teacher side, and what it suggests to any institution considering something similar.
The problem: the work happens, the data does not
Question practice already happens in schools. The problem is not that there is too little of it, but that it leaves no trace behind.
- Topic-level weakness is invisible. Mock exam results give a total; they do not say which learning objective the student is stuck on.
- Study time is unmeasured. How many questions someone solved, how long each took, and where they slowed down are not recorded.
- Motivation stays external. Solving questions produces no visible progress for the student; it is simply a load to get through.
- Reporting is manual labour. Gathering the data for an end-of-term assessment is a job in itself.
What those four share is that every question solved could have been a data point and was not.
The student side: gamified practice
The core design decision on the student side was not to present questions as a flat list. They arrive inside a timed game loop: a question appears, there is a limited window to answer it, and the round ends if the time runs out or the answer is wrong.
That turns gamification from decoration into two working parts. First, time pressure trains the student for exam conditions. Second, because each round produces a score, practice generates its own feedback — a week later, the student can see they have moved.
Since every solved question is recorded, the same loop also feeds the school-wide ranking table. The student sees both their own history and where they stand in the class. The application is web-based and mobile-friendly; logging in from a browser is enough, with nothing to install.
The teacher side: assignments, study plans and reports
The student side is the visible half; the institutional value shows up in the teacher and management panels.
From their own panel a teacher publishes assignments by choosing a topic and a level, and where needed defines a study plan for a single student. Closing gaps after a mock exam runs this way: the weak topic is identified, a plan is defined for it, and progress is followed from the same screen.
Reporting works at topic level. The teacher sees performance per class and per student, management sees it per school, broken down by learning objective. Analyses are presented as charts on screen and can be exported to PDF — they were designed to be used in end-of-term assessments.
There is also an upload path for teachers and content producers; uploaded questions enter the pool tagged by topic and level. Institutions that would rather buy ready content can look at the question bank marketplace module.
How the system is set up
Deployment runs in five steps, all of them defined against the school's own structure.
- The school is defined in the system. The school is created from the admin panel, classes are defined, and teacher accounts are opened and given permissions.
- The teacher creates lessons and assignments. Assignments are published by selecting topic and level; a personal study plan can be defined for a student where needed.
- The student solves questions. The student logs into their own account and works through the gamified module. Every question is on a timer.
- Results are recorded and rankings form. Solved questions are written to history, success rate and solving time are calculated, and the school ranking table updates.
- Reports are read. The teacher sees a topic-level report per class and per student, management sees it per school; output can be taken as PDF.
For institutions with more than one school or branch, each one is defined separately on the same infrastructure, and each manages its own users and its own reports.
How student data is protected
In school software this is not a technical footnote, it is the question at the centre of the deployment. Authorisation is role-based: student, teacher, principal and administrator each hold separate scopes. Login and data transfer are encrypted, and the infrastructure carries regular backups and a recovery mechanism. The deployment is done with data protection obligations in view.
In practice that means a teacher sees only their own class's data, management can look across the school, and a student cannot reach anyone's history but their own.
Three lessons from the project
Work you cannot measure is work you cannot manage. The application's biggest contribution is not a new study method but turning existing study into data. The teacher starts the next day from a topic-level success rate rather than an impression.
Gamification only works if it keeps records. Badges and points on their own last a few weeks. What lasts is the game doubling as the measurement instrument: score, ranking and report all feed from the same data.
In institutional software the real user is the teacher. If the student interface is not engaging the app goes unused — but if the teacher panel is not useful, the app does not stay in the institution. The second failure is the easier one to miss.
